New Look/Superdrug/Carboot Haul!

Hi guys!

So, I went on a huge post-birthday shopping spree on Saturday to the carboot sale and to town as well, and I picked up quite a few vinyls, bits of make-up and pieces of clothing so I thought I'd share what I got with fellow bloggers/casual viewers. I'll talk about the items from the different places grouped, and then take a little individual look at all of them. So here we go:

Carboot Vinyls

So, on Saturday morning I decided to tag along with my mum and brother to the local carboot sale in hope of some bargains. For anyone that doesn't know what they are, it's basically people bring their stuff they want to sell onto a stall, and you go around and look at all this different stuff and buy whatever you want. So like the English equivalent of a yard/jumble sale. So, the first purchase I made was from this man who had about four boxes of vinyls! I sifted through them and firstly found the Grease soundtrack which I had to have as it's my favourite ever movie, especially because of the songs! However, I soon came across ANOTHER Grease vinyl in his collection and swapped it with this one because it was slightly better quality. He had a box full of dance singles as well and I picked out 'Thunder In My Heart Again' by Meck ft. Leo Sayer as I love that song, quite a recent one too, only about 8 years old. These were about £2 each I think. Next, we found another box of vinyls, and my brother actually purchased a couple - Michael Jackson 'Off the Wall' and a Jackson 5 album, he loves them! In this box I managed to find John Lennon & Yoko Ono's 'Double Fantasy' album and he was selling it for just £1! Lastly, I found this guy in a Beatles shirt (loved him already) and found quite a few Beatles records in his collection that I bought: 'A Hard Day's Night', 'Help!', 'Abbey Road' and 'Let It Be' and he charged £20 for them all, which is pretty decent as I found some vinyls in HMV for like £15 EACH! He presumed I was buying them for my dad though and was extremely shocked that I had a record player - I'm such a granny haha. This is definitely the place to come for bargains.

Carboot Make-Up

So, I was most definitely NOT expecting make-up at the carboot sale! But a VERY popular stall there was an Avon lady who had two HUGE boxes of make-up! It was 5 items in a certain box for £2 and any other items were 50p, so I got four nail polishes plus a body butter as my 5 items, and a body spray as an extra item, so all of this costed me just £2.50 and none of the make-up she was selling was used, so what a bargain! The products I got were:

Soap & Glory - The Righteous Butter 50ml body butter

AVON Nailwear Pro - Coral Reef nail polish

Bourjois Paris - Shock Resistant Nail Enamel #30

17 High Gloss - Risky Red nail polish

Star Nails Attitudes - Sea Breeze nail polish

fcuk polished body spray - 75ml

Superdrug Make-up

So, I was actually going into Superdrug with the intention of FINALLY buying Tanya Burr's Little Duck nail polish so was absolutely gutted when I asked a lady in there and she told me that they had just stopped stocking her products! I was desperate for a mint green or turquoise nail polish though, so I had a look around and eventually settled on the Essie Turqoise & Caicos nail lacquer, which was only a couple of pounds more expensive at £7.99. I shall try it out this weekend and hopefully it was worth the purchase! The other intention of wanting to come to Superdrug is that I needed a lipstick, and all I knew is that I wanted it to be dark, so I had a search around and ended up buying the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Glam Plum Fulham #470 for £6.49. I would HIGHLY recommend it if you're looking for quite a vampy purple, as it's highly pigmented and comes out just the right shade of purple - in my opinion not too light which is hard to pull off, and not too dark therefore not too dramatic. I'll probably do swatches for these when it comes to August favourites!

New Look clothing

So finally, after trailing through the shops, I went to old faithful New Look. I had a look around and spotted two pairs of trousers that I really had my eye on! In the end I decided to get both of them, of course! The trousers pictured on the left of the photo above are the Petite Dogtooth Leggings and they were £14.99. They're SO comfy and as a monochrome lover they are brilliant! On the right are Acid Wash Supersoft Skinny jeans that costed £22.99. I adore them, they fit just right and are SO 80's! Plus they go really well with a pink shirt I have.

So that's all guys! Really hoped you enjoyed this haul! I look forward to using all these things this month. Have you guys bought anything recently? Found any bargains like me? Like any of these products in particular?

July Favourites

Hi guys, these are a few things that I was really loving in July this year, including: clothing, cosmetics, TV shows and food. I've also experimented with the design to make it look a bit more aesthetically  pleasing, hope you enjoy!

First up is clothing, and I was absolutely delighted to find this. I'd wanted something smart and girly for ages, and the pink colouring as well as the black collar provided this. I usually really do not suit pink at all, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually really loved what this looked like on! I bought it for £8.99 from New Look, total bargain for something non-Primark!

Speaking of Primark, that's exactly where I got this from! I'd been looking for ages for a really nice playsuit for summer, but couldn't quite find one that I liked enough to purchase. However, looking around Primark, I stumbled across this one! I love the colouring and patterns, and at just £7.99 I just couldn't say no!

This was another Primark purchase this month! I was a bit strapped for cash so this month it's been another one of limited spending and looking for bargains. But anyway, I was looking for a dress in Primark and came across this one. I absolutely love the blue colour, and teamed up with a flower belt I have, the two went together so well so I just had to get it, especially once again for another brilliant price, this time just £10.00.

Well this is decidedly less girly than the other stuff! Anyway, I'd wanted something along the line of this for a while, but usually I have a look on Truffleshuffle.com for this type of thing. I decided that I didn't really like any of their 'drink' shirts. However, after being dragged (okay it wasn't that bad!) around Matalan, this Pepsi-Cola vest caught my eye and as it was only £8.00 I decided to pick it up for the summer!

Now for a quick piece of jewellery that I picked up this month! My necklace that I had been wearing pretty much everyday for the past few years was getting tatty so I wanted a new necklace, and another green one at that. I was in a charity shop and this one caught my eye, I liked how dramatic it was with all the different large green gems inside it, and I just adored it after trying it on, so now this has become one of my main necklaces, haha! The best part is that I only had £1.50 on me and the woman let me have it for just that, what a bargain!!

This has been my old faithful for almost three years, after originally testing out lots of different ones, getting help from one of the make-up ladies in store and finding the perfect make and colour for my skin tone. I'm including this because it usually lasts me a good few months but the time came where I needed to re-stock! The exact make is the No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream, but more specifically the Normal/Oily SPF 15 one in the 'Fair' shade. It usually costs me about £11.99 but it is so worth it for me as it lasts so long, is the exact right colour and doesn't feel too heavy or anything, it does a really good job. Oh, and I usually buy it from Boots.

Here's another cosmetic that I've been loving this month! These are Estée Lauder lipsticks - the red one is #26 Nectarine and the more purple/brown one is #48 Hot Kiss. They are both absolutely wonderful - very pigmented leading to a very fantastic colour, plus it stays for hours. The Hot Kiss one in particular is probably my favourite ever lipstick shade that I've ever discovered, as you can see it's quite worn out! The packaging also looks amazing! Go check out their website, or failing that, Debenhams stock their products too!

Okay this boxset isn't exactly new as the show has just finished it's fifth season, but oh my gosh, during the summer holidays I've enjoyed watching back over the Glee season 1 boxset SO much! Season One was just pure gold with the comedy and drama and the story lines were just so on point. 'Bad Reputation' is most probably my favourite episode. Season One aired between 2009-2010 where the show found great success in the ratings and in the charts too.

This wouldn't be me unless it was rounded off with SOME form of food, haha! Firstly, this month my parents drove past a Cadbury Shop and brought us back a bag of 'Mis-Shapes' and they are absolutely gorgeous - a mixture of milk chocolate shapes and then also ones filled with caramel. I love both, so now I don't have to decided which one I'd prefer when I get a bag full of both of them! OH and secondly I was reminded of my love for Dip-Dabs this month when deciding to get one at my brother's futsal tournament. SO sugary but SO delicious!

So yeah that's it for this month guys! I hope you enjoyed this post and knowing me it had to be long and include food! Which of the items featured was your favourite? Most importantly, what were YOUR July favourites? Comment a link to your favourites' posts and I'll be more than happy to check them out!

June Favourites

Clothing

The clothes I wanted to talk about this month were my charity shop finds! I've noticed other bloggers that I've been following purchasing items from charity shops as well so I'm glad the stigma is being tarnished a little. The perks of volunteering in a charity shop to do my bit is getting to find the bargains before anyone else! Because I see what goes on behind the scenes and know that everything is washed/steamed to perfection, I don't care if something has come from a charity shop if it's something I love. Most of it is high street stuff for a fraction of the price! Anyway, I was on the lookout for some summery pieces and these three items pictured are my favourite charity shop finds this month! I was on the lookout for some summery looking jeans, and I love the mint colour of the jeans pictured on the left that I managed to find in my size, which according to the label are YESYES jeans, found in New Look. I don't think the picture does them much justice as they were a bit creased, but I assure you, in my opinion they're gorgeous! I absolutely adore the top in the middle, which is quite a formal vest design. The colouring is rather psychedelic, with a girly white flowery touch added. According to the label, the make is YUMI, sold at places like House of Fraser or ASOS.com. Lastly, I found the three-quarterlength trousers and simply had to have them! I adore monochrome and flowers, so what an ideal match! They are originally from M&S.

Make-up

The lipgloss I use daily is quite a vampy purple one, but I usually do tend to experiment from time to time. This month there have been two I've been experimenting with. Firstly, like in the clothing section this month, I really wanted a summery lipgloss, so this month I've been using the Cashmere lipgloss available from Next. Secondly, I absolutely love YouTuber/Blogger Tanya Burr, and after purchasing the more subtle Afternoon Tea make in her range and loving the style and quality of the product, I wanted a more dark shade as I love more dramatic lip shades, so of course I went for the boldest colour in the range - the 'Vampire Kiss' one! From the packaging I thought it looked a very dark red shade, but when applying, it is more like a very dark pink, as you can make out from the swatch above. Still very nice though, bold is what I was looking for and that is what I got! Her range is available from Superdrug.

Music

If you also follow my music blog, then you'll know that for the past few months, I've been buying older Now albums to update my music collection with some more 2000's music. The editions I bought this month were Now 56 (2003), Now 57 (2004) and Now 58 (2004). They were all from That's Entertainment, I got 3 for £5 but usually they are £1.99 each. They brought back so much nostalgia when the likes of Britney, Kylie & Justin (NOT Bieber!) were at the top and reminded me of what I loved as a Primary School child, aw. In terms of more up to date releases, the only one I've got this month is 'Love Frequency' by Klaxons. I decided to purchase it after hearing the two stellar singles 'There Is No Other Time' and 'Show Me a Miracle' from the album. They're an indie-rock band, probably most memorable for their brilliant hit 'Golden Skans' which is one of those songs that you'll probably recognise, not ever knowing who it was by! I advise you to check them out! And yes, I do still buy physical copies of albums, I've always been such a collector and I just find it better to have a copy of the item itself, although admittedly they do take up a lot of space as I have so many over the years!

Book/TV/Film

Ooh I've been loving quite a few things this month! As a very typical teenage girl, I've been stuck into the Fault In Our Stars book by John Green (Only £3.95 in Tesco - result!). I finished it about a week ago because I knew that me and my best friend Emma were planning on seeing the movie and I adored it! A perfect balance of funny and sad, I was truly hooked from start to finish. The film adaptation did not let me down at all, the actors chosen to play Augustus and Hazel worked so well, they had such chemistry! It truly ripped my heart out and the minute it finished I instantly wanted to watch it again! Although some events/details were missed out, on the whole I felt it did stay true to the book! The accompanying soundtrack was fantastic as well, from more subtle tracks like Tom Odell to the more upbeat stuff such as Charli XCX's 'Boom Clap', a mixture of emotions felt, just like the film/book itself! Aside from the phenomenon that is TFiOS, I've been loving the latest series of Big Brother UK. This series, with a theme of Power Trip after last years Secrets & Lies, began on 5th June and we've already seen hate figures, drama and romances formed in just four weeks! My current favourite housemates are the intellectual Matthew and the ditsy but hilarious Mark, and their friendship is just fantastic to watch. Interestingly, I've been watching the first series from 2000 on YouTube as well, and it's changed SO much as you'd expect, from more of an authentic social experiment to more of a show that's aware of itself, but far more entertaining.

Games

Well, the games I've been loving this month are decidedly old! Firstly, I dug out the sims 3 a lot earlier this month thanks to my favourite YouTuber Joe Sugg (ThatcherJoe) starting a gaming series! He is making it so entertaining and infectious, so I immediately got my game out and started playing it for quite a while! I started playing the Sims way back in primary school with the Sims 2 so it was a very nostalgic experience! I've seemingly forgotten all the cheats though! The other game I've been playing this month was another charity shop find this month, for only £2.50, and my family are quite quiz addicts, always watching shows like the Chase or playing trivial pursuit, and because I love music so much, I bought this and roped my brother into playing it with me! Annoyingly our sibling rivalry makes us very competitive, so when my brother beat me the once I received a range of 'I WON' snapchats from him! The questions were admittedly quite difficult, so it wasn't as fun as the NOW music quiz game, but I still felt I knew a fair amount and if anything it expanded my knowledge by not being very good! It's the 2007 edition if you're interested, so it helped that it was fairly new.

Songs

----

So that's it for my June favourites! I sincerely apologise that this was so long but I wanted my first blog post to be impressive in content - and length ended up following that! But I hope everyone enjoyed, it was a lot of fun putting it together! Any suggestions for future articles please comment below or if you want me to check out your June favourites then also feel free to link and I'll comment on it!

Thanks,
